How it happened...

Brady and Chris (Spud) have been in each other's lives since Chris had to integrate Brady into public school during second grade. They have traveled together and separately on adventures across the globe. Their adventures have taken them to Europe, South America, and North America. They recognized that others have helped them decide where they should travel and what they should experience and felt the need to give back to the adventure seeking community. This website is their attempt to give back.

They recognize they aren't experts but they have had many experiences and wish to share their thoughts and information with those who are interested. This website is also meant to help guide those looking for adventure regardless of ability. The only thing necessary is a desire to explore.

My own interest in the outdoors was stoked at an early age during family trips "up north" to my grandparents' farm in southern Aroostook County. This was also the staging ground for hikes up Mt. Katahdin where I'd occasionally see dirty, ragged Appalachian Trail thru-hikers finishing their 2,000 mile journey. Somehow this looked like fun to me, so in 2007 I hiked northbound from Georgia to Maine. After trying out office life (boo) the next summer, I escaped again to the wild the following year when a buddy invited me to Southeast Alaska to guide hiking and rafting trips. Every day off meant a new adventure in the mountains or on the rivers—or poring over maps planning the next caper. Now that I'm planted back in Maine, I've taken to exploring my home state's rivers and streams via canoe or raft, and clambering up and down its mountains during all four seasons.

I grew up in the woods. I remember roaming through the woods around my house believing I was in some distant forest exploring the unknown wilds. Getting older I went through a phase where I spent a lot of time inside (also could be read "I played a lot of video games"). Thanks to Brady and my wife I rediscovered the excitement and beauty of being outside. I have been to several different countries and different parts of the United States. Everything from Amsterdam to Big Bend National Park to Alaska. My hope is to pass along my enjoyment of the outdoors and help others looking to explore more.
